WHAT IS FAST FASHION? 

Say, you go into Primark one week and you see a dress you like. You go back the next week to buy it, and it isn't there anymore, but there are 5 other dresses that have just hit the racks. That's Fast Fashion.

Fast Fashion is the manufacture, by the fashion industry of quickly made, high style turnover, very affordable clothes. They are also very often badly made by poorly paid workers in intensive working environments.

WHAT IS THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF

FAST FASHION? 

In summary, there are a few key effects on the environment from the manufacture of Fast Fashion: 

1: Textile dyes are very often toxic and pollute the water supply 

2: There is a large amount of water wastage in the manufacturing process 

3: Often, due to excess, Fast Fashion makes its way, without repurposing, into landfill.

WHAT IS SLOW FASHION? 

1: Buy less clothes, hence placing less impact, via the clothing industry, on the environment. 

2: Buy clothes  that you know you will wear a lot and are of a durable quaility. 

3: Buy second hand. Charity shops are amazing 'modern museums' where you can always find something fantastic and unusual that you wouldn't be able to find on the high street.  

3: 'Audit your wardrobe', checking what you use and don't use, and giving away the unused excess to charity, and to those in need. 

4: When you get the 'craving to shop', go shopping IN THE BACK OF YOUR WARDROBE - there are so many ways to feel amazing, you don't need a 'shopping fix' to feel good - find out what you already own, dress up, and rock your Thursday morning. 

5: Buy an affordable sewing machine (very good sewing machines are available for under £100) 

6: Learn how to alter, remake, redesign, embellish and make what you already own into something that is unique, tailor made for you and extraordinary - make the Ordinary Extraordinary!  

7: Share these skills with your friends. Dress up. Enjoy!
